Initiatives for SDGs

What we can do for a sustainable world.

For a sustainable world, Nishisenkoh will strive to conserve the natural environment by
implementing energy measures through dyeing technologies and product development.

In addition, we will work to thoroughly prevent harassment based on
gender and nationality and create a fulfilling workplace by providing childbirth, childcare, and caregiver support.

By actively working on the issues indicated by the goals for sustainable development,
we will incorporate the SDGs into our activities and achieve symbiosis with local industries and society.

What are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are international goals for a sustainable and better world by 2030,
which were described in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted at the UN Summit in
September 2015 as the successor to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) developed in 2001.

Initiatives for Dyeing Technologies

Processing by decompression dyeing machine

Dyeing machined make it possible to dye difficult to color fibers, such as rush grass. Because the machine dyes the fiber core while decompressing, it is suitable for products that are resistant to color loss due to sunlight or friction. And since the machine does not ruin the texture and feel of the materials, it has drawn attention from a variety of different sectors.

Introduction of an inkjet printer

Inkjet printers reduce the amount of water used during processing by about 60%.

Processing by decompression dyeing machine

Technology is used to obtain excellent antibacterial and deodorizing effects by attaching platinum nanoparticles to fibers. The process also inactivates influenza A. (Tested at the Kitasato Research Center for Environmental Science)

Initiatives for Energy

We considered the reduction of the environmental burden is an important theme and established the Energy-Saving Committee in our company in 2005.
The person responsible in each department is selected as a committee member to implement the energy-saving plan based on the PDCA at the monthly committee meeting.

Shift from an oil-fired boiler to a 100% natural gas-fired boiler

By promptly shifting from an oil-fired boiler to the 100% natural gas-fired boiler in the dyeing industry, where many boilers consume a lot of energy, we reduced CO2 emissions by 36%.

Switch to LEDs for office and factory lighting and introduction of inverters for compressors

We replaced the ceiling lighting in our factory from 400 W mercury lamps to metal halide 200 W LEDs. We also replaced the office and factory lighting from linear fluorescent tubes to LEDs and CCFLs.
We also changed the 55 kW compressor from the screw type to the inverter type.

Initiatives for Products

Gained the Organic Content Standard (OCS) certificate

The OCS certification for organic textiles certifies the production and manufacturing of products containing organic fibers. The standards for the organized management system make sure there is no mixture of products or product contamination in any of the processes ranging from the harvest of raw materials to the completion of certified products (factories, processing places, and warehouses), and certification guarantees the organic fiber content in products for final consumers.

Initiatives for Gender Equality

Introduction of systems to support female employees’ active participation and caregivers

We actively employ women and actively support childbirth and childrearing.
With the aging of society, we introduced a support system for employees who have a family member in need of care.

Education for Harassment Prevention that transcends gender and nationality

Based on the acceptance of trainees into the skill training system for foreign nationals, we have provided awareness-raising activities through comprehensive training in the prevention of harassment based on gender or nationality.
